The Tonimar, originally used on the ocean, was brought to Wolfeboro and served as a U. S. Mail Boat from 1941 into the 1960's. The boat was 45 feet long with a 12 foot beam. Like most mail boats, the Tonimar advertised and carried paid passengers; it could take 52 people. Trips lasted about 5 hours and made a number of island and summer camp stops.
