This is an 1889 drawing of Wolfeboro by artist George E. Norris. Somewhat fanciful, but surprisingly accurate. Rogers St. in the left foreground is now Sewall Rd. The Nathaniel Rogers homestead at the junction with North Main St. is now the Wolfeboro Inn. On the left, High St. is now Pleasant Rd. Front & Back Bays (as then called), with the railroad causeway & large shoe factory, are just left of center. In the center, on South Main St., is Brewster Memorial Hall (Town Hall); to the right is the Pavilion Hotel at Pickering Corner, further right is the planned design of Brewster Free Academy (never built in this original design). The inset on the left is South Wolfeboro. In the background are Crescent Lake & Lake Wentworth.
