Men preparing to leave on the Mt. Washington to get a train at the Weirs, go to Boston to enter the Military Forces for World War I, c. 1917. Second from the right is Larry Mansfield, who later became the Town Fire Chief. Far right is Frank P. Hobbs, later the owner of Hobbs-Is-Inn. Photo was taken at the rear of the Ann Inn, on South Main Street, now the location of Town Park & Cate Park.
07/14/2025: Lenny Moore: The man standing in center of photo holding his hat with his left hand, is Harry A Harriman, which the Legion Post in Wolfeboro was first named for. Harriman was the first Wolfeboro man killed in the war. Standing left of Harriman is Edwin Moody.
Also, the man 2nd from right is identified as Larry Mansfield, is actually LeRoy Mansfield. Perhaps Larry is what he was called. The only man from Wolfeboro to serve in WW1 was LeRoy Mansfield.
The two men squatting in front are, Samuel Leighton on the left and Guy Wyman on the left.
