Wolfeboro Historical Society Digital Archive Road Trips State Historic Markers |
|
This State Marker is on Route 109, at the entrance to the Wentworth State Park, by the beach area also known as Clow's Beach (after the family that donated the property to the State). The early construction of Gov. John Wentworth's summer house led to Wolfeboro's claim as "The Oldest Summer Resort in America" as noted on the signs on major roads at the town lines.
