This familiar sign stands at several of the main roads leading to Wolfeboro. The basis, Provincial Governor John Wentworth and his 1768 mansion, is detailed on the orevious postcard. The mansion burned down in 1820; the site, on Governor Wentworth Highway near the northeast shore of Lake Wentworth, is a State Historical Site with the foundation and well remaining. Card is dated 1972.
